Stroud Cricket Club’s women’s team are recruiting players for the 2023 season as they enter the hardball cricket league following seven successful years playing with the softball.

The side won the indoor league in 2017 and 2018 and were runners-up in both the 2019 and 2020 outdoor competitions.

As the club expands, they are looking to run two women’s teams this time around, with the softball squad playing in the Stroud District on Monday evenings and the hardball team set to play t20 matches on Sunday afternoons.

The ladies team have also secured a sponsorship from CK Accountants Limited for the year, with outdoor training sessions set to start in April at Stroud Cricket Ground.

Organiser Vicky Culver said: “Stroud CC is a social, welcoming, and enjoyable club to be a part of. Our women’s team wouldn’t have a set-up without our amazing members who have been promoting women’s cricket and helping out on training and game days.

“We are looking to expand and are calling all women and girls aged 12+. Whether you are returning to cricket or want to try something new, there’s a place for you at the SCG,” she said.
