COP26: Vigil set for Stroud

MOST READ

A vigil will take place in Stroud on Saturday to mark the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice.

The event, from noon until 12.30 pm will be held on the corner of High Street and Kendrick Street, can be joined by anyone who is concerned about the lack of action over the crisis, and people are encouraged to bring banners and placards.

The event is being held to coincide with COP26, the United Nations’ climate change conference, which is taking place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.

Stroud resident Martin Whiteside said: “At this crucial time when heads of government from around the world are meeting in the UK to make crucial commitments on climate change, we in Stroud want to urge our Government to lead with much more urgency. We want our government to stop dithering and take immediate action on this issue.”
