The Renishaw engineering team that helped Team GB to Olympic success in 2020 were afforded a special visit from former Team GB cyclist, Ed Clancy OBE, and Stephan Park CBE, Performance Director at British Cycling.

During the site tours to Wotton, Nailsworth and Stonehouse, the star duo met with employees and showcased the HB:T Olympic track bike that Renishaw helped to manufacture and which contributed to the win of seven medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

They also took part in a Q&A session at the New Mills site (Brunel suite) and enjoyed an informal lunch with Will Lee, CEO, Sir David McMurtry, Executive Chairman and some of the Additive Manufacturing (AM) team.

There was also an opportunity for employees to have photographs with Ed and the HB:T bike before they went on a final tour of the Additive Manufacturing facilities at New Mills.

Ed Clancy OBE, is the most successful Team Pursuit cyclist in history, having won gold with Team GB at three successive Olympics. In 2021 Ed reached his sixteenth year with Team GB as he competed in his fourth Olympic games in Tokyo, later retiring from the team in August 2021. Ed currently works part time for British Cycling’s Research and Innovation Team and consults for British Triathlon.

Stephen Park (‘Sparky’) began working for British Cycling in April 2017, attending the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong as his first major event with the team. Stephen had been the Royal Yachting Association’s Olympic manager for the previous 15 years, with Britain’s world-beating sailors amassing 23 Olympic and Paralympic medals during his time at the helm.
