A popular Halloween event is set to return to Stroud.

Stroud Valley’s Project’s Pumpkin Trail is an autumn fixture, and this year the conservation and community charity is joining forces with children’s author Claire Barker, Velo Bakery and Bottlegreen drinks to bring a day-long Autumn Adventure to Stroud’s Museum in the Park on Sunday, October 30th.

It all starts at 11am with a Fungi Parkland Treasure Hunt; places are limited, so you’ll need to book ahead for this guided quest for woodland mushrooms. Then from 2pm until 4.30pm, the courtyard at the Museum in the Park will be the place to bring entries for the Pumpkin Trail and competition.

Carve your spookiest design at home and bring it along to be judged by Claire, author of Knitbone Pepper, Ghost Dog, and best-selling Stroudie writer Katie Fforde; categories are Primary; 11+ and Family. After the prize-winning pumpkins have been announced, the trail will be open for viewing between 5.30pm and 6pm – for those who dare!

What’s more, Claire will be hosting free storytelling and spell-writing sessions at 2pm; 2.50pm and 3.50pm, and you can learn how to make cool leaf arts between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

Hot Spiced Berry cordial from Bottlegreen will be available all afternoon, alongside the Museum’s teas and coffees, and you can enjoy delicious organic, sourdough wood-fired pizzas, which will be available to buy from Velo Bakery.
