A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with alleged incidents on a canal path between Gloucester and Stroud last week, and has been remanded in custody.

Ashley Brown, of no fixed abode, was charged with five public order offences, namely display any writing, sign or other visible representation with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He was also charged with two counts of indecent exposure.

Brown appeared in court on Thursday 20 October and was remanded to prison until his next hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (26 October).

The charges relate to incidents reported to have happened on the canal path on Monday 17 October when it was alleged a man had approached women with a notepad and asked them to expose themselves, and incidents of exposure in Stroud and Gloucester the following day.

Police had issued an appeal for information, and anyone who has not yet spoken to officers can provide information online by completing the following form and quoting incident 244 of 17 October: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
