The Stroud News and Journal newspaper office is up for sale.

Hunters Estate Agents are marketing the office on Lansdown Road for a guide price of £425,000.

The building had been the home of the Stroud Journal (founded in 1854) since 1868 and became the Stroud News and Journal in 1957 when it amalgamated with the Stroud News, owned by Dursley-based Bailey Newspaper Group.

Bailey Newspaper Group was bought by Newscom in 1997, and later sold to Newsquest Media Group in 2000, owned by the American mass media holding company Gannett. Production and printing was moved from Dursley to Newport in South Wales.
