Former Forest Green defender set to leave Bristol City

Former Forest Green defender Kane Wilson is set to leave Bristol City just 12 months after joining Nigel Pearson’s side on a three-year deal.

Signed by Mark Cooper on a free transfer from West Brom, Wilson played an integral part of Forest Green’s promotion campaign, scoring three and assisting 13 last season across 45 appearances for Rob Edwards’ champions.

Wilson was also named League Two player of the year for the 2021/22 campaign.

Wilson sustained an injury before the final pre-season game of the summer against Bournemouth and then lost his place in the starting XI to Mark Sykes.

A knee injury sustained in October kept him out until February and after returning to full fitness he found his place in the side blocked by George Tanner.
