Stroud’s popular Halfords store has closed, its windows now blacked out.

Posters on the windows read: ‘We’re closed but we’re still near’ and carry information on how to get to the Halfords store in Eastern Avenue, Gloucester.

Stroud Times reported in August that the store, which has been in Merrywalks since 2008, was due to close. A spokesperson for Dransfield Properties, who own the site, said: “Halfords are coming out of their unit in November and we are currently in talks with three different retailers to take this space. Once an occupier is chosen this will lead to a net increase in jobs for the area.”
