Shortwood and Horsley survived Storm Babet as Matt Fanstone’s hat-trick won the Nailsworth derby bragging rights.

Horsley started well and had it not been for some resolute defending and a couple of good saves from Kieran Franks, things could have been very different.

Wood began to settle and a well taken goal from the evergreen Fanstone from a Kieran Simmonds assist, settled the nerves. A second for Fanstone just before half-time assisted by Simmonds again and Wood looked in control.

The teams had a short half-time break with Dayne Gilson-Clarke getting on the scoresheet on 52 minutes to make it 3-0.

Fanstone got his hat-trick on 80 minutes to seal the win. The gloss slighty taken off after Gilson-Ckarke was sent off for a petulant kick out after a tackle.

Shortwood Res: Franks, Scrivens, Colliver, Evanson ©, King, Dunn, Davis, Moore, Simmonds, Fanstone, Gilson- Clarke.

Subs: Wellington, Grant, Beere

Star Man: Tom King
