Work starts at former restaurant

Work is underway on a former restaurant in Stroud.

Builders are currently inside the former building of Birch, at 6 Union Street, which was owned by Ship Inn landlord Wes Birch.

The Birch signage has been removed but in a possible clue to the identity of the new owners, the letters C and H remain in place across the shop frontage.

We reported in August that a new bar and restaurant is set to move into the premises.

Previously known as the Food Emporium and Dinners at Six, Wes put the building on the market earlier this year.
