Man dies in two-vehicle collision

A man has died in a two-vehicle collision on the B4070 in Birdlip this morning, Tuesday.

Police remain at the scene of the incident which happened shortly after 5.30am and involved a grey Nissan Qashqai and a silver Kia Picanto.

The driver of the Kia, a man aged in his 50s and from Cheltenham, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

A man aged in his 30s and from the Cotswolds has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and he remains in custody.

The road between Buckholt Road and the A417 is likely to remain closed for some time while collision investigation work takes place.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

Students, staff and families at Stroud High School were celebrating this morning as Year 11 students collected an impressive set of GCSE results. This year, 22 per cent of all grades awarded were Grade 9, the highest grade available at GCSE. More than half of all grades (51 per cent) were awarded at Grades 9-8, while almost three-quarters (74 per cent) were awarded at Grades 9-7.
