Introducing a new meals-on-wheels service

Dear Editor,

The Kitchen Companions has created a better way of receiving a hot lunch at home, promoting a healthy diet, social connection and independent living.

We want to make a real difference to the lived experience of many who eat alone and create meaningful human connection through food. This is at the heart of what we do.

We believe that social connection is just as important to our wellbeing as nutrition and exercise. Our companions are local to you, they come to your home and make you a hot meal while spending time with you and checking that you are safe. There is time to chat, make friends and help with odd jobs or problems. It might be making a call to a family member, another support
group or just fixing it together. Our service can help you live independently in your own home for as long as possible.

We are part of The Grace Network who were called upon when the previous meals-on-wheels provider suddenly terminated their contract. We were determined to create something that would make a real difference to the people of our community, tackling social isolation while bringing healthy nutrition.

Being part of a wide network of Social Enterprises that brought you The Long
Table, Stroud District Kids Stuff, The Furniture bank, and many more, we are committed to building enterprises that put people and communities first.
