Iconic pub celebrates top food hygiene rating

A pub has been awarded a five-out-of-five rating for its food hygiene standards.

The iconic Tipputs Inn on the A46 south of Nailsworth reopened in September, after being closed since May. 

The pub was awarded a five-star rating by the council’s inspectors. Scores on the doors aims to highlight hygiene standards in pubs, restaurants and take-aways.

The pub was built in 1769, initially functioning as a coaching inn situated on the incline just above Nailsworth, it was primarily constructed using Cotswold stone. Karri believes the inn served as a stop for hitching an additional team of horses to prevent carts from tipping over as they descended into Nailsworth – hence the name Tipputs.
