With temperatures dipping below freezing, a pitch inspection will take place ahead of Forest Green Rovers’ anticipated FA Trophy home clash against Chorley FC.

Frost covers and heat lamps are currently in place to help protect the New Lawn playing surface and a pitch inspection is now set for Saturday, 9am.

Tonight, Friday has seen temperatures quickly falling away under any clear skies to give a widespread frost and isolated freezing fog patches with a minimum temperature -2 °C

A spokesperson for Forest Green said: “There will be a precautionary pitch inspection on Saturday, 9am, at the request of the referee, due to the current forecast for freezing temperatures.

“All precautions are being taken to ensure the fixture can be played.”
