Officers were called to a crash at Merrywalks on Saturday. An ambulance and fire engine attended the scene after a three-vehicle accident.

A police spokesperson said: “Thankfully there were no serious injuries.”

On a busy Saturday, officers arrested a shoplifter, who was also charged with a public order offence and possession of a controlled drug.

Meanwhile, police reported two further arrests, including an arrest for a breach of a civil injunction.

A spokesperson said: “We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our town and will actively deal with offenders.”

Elsewhere, police carried out a welfare, reassurance and safeguarding check on a vulnerable male, where an attempt to exploit them had taken place.
