Hottest tickets in town: it cost a fortune but Van Morrison was worth it

With tickets priced at £127.50 to £152.50, you certainly needed deep pockets to go and watch iconic singer Van Morrison perform at The Sub Rooms in Stroud.

However, despite all the pre-performance mutterings, Hugh Phillimore and the team at the Stroud Subscription Rooms need to be applauded for hosting Van the Man to a capacity crowd.

Event photographer Jonathan Duckworth told Stroud Times: It was an extraordinary event, a lot of familiar songs, a happy Van the Man, a capacity audience. I heard someone say as they left, “That’s the best gig I’ve been to in over a decade”.

“I know I am biased because I get to take photos there, but Stroud has a quite extraordinary venue in The Subs, and in an era where local venues are struggling and closing we have something to celebrate.”
