Jonathon Kerry captured a memory from his childhood in Stroud this afternoon, Saturday.

Jonathon, who helps runs family business John Kerry & Sons, suppliers of domestic appliances, spotted the uncovered Woolworths sign on the recently closed Poundland premises in King Street.

Stroud’s branch of Woolworths closed its doors for the final time on January 6, 2009, leaving Jonathon to recall an iconic shop that played a big part in his life during his formative years.

Jonathon said: “Seeing the old sign evoked memories as a child when we all met outside Woolies on a Saturday. After the next refurbishment, this sign will be gone, so I had to take a picture.”

The Poundland premises is currently under refurbishment and is set to be partially rebuilt to create a new £6.5m medical centre.
