Councillor Chloe Turner was elected Leader of Council at the Council’s Annual Meeting after the Leader since July 2022, Catherine Braun stood down. Cllr Braun will continue to be a councillor, and is now Deputy Leader of Council.

Cllr Turner is now the Chair of Strategy and Resources Committee, and Cllr Braun the Vice Chair. Environment Committee is chaired by Cllr Martin Pearcy, and Cllr John Callinan is the new Vice Chair of Audit & Standards Committee.

There are 23 Green group members, 18 Labour group councillors, 6 Conservatives, 2 Liberal Democrats, one Independent member and one vacancy which will be filled at a byelection on June 11. The Greens will continue to lead a minority administration.

Their work will be focused on the new Council Plan for 2025-29 which outlines five strategic priorities – Environment, Climate and Nature, Communities and Wellbeing, Local Economy, Housing, and Working for our Communities.
