A former pub on the Westward Road in Ebley, is to become an Italian restaurant.
A sign stating, ‘Italian Restaurant Opening Soon’, went up over the weekend with no other details. The Coach and Horses has been permanently shut since July 2019. On closing, a post on the pub’s Facebook page said the landlord wanted to turn the building into retail units, but the building has remained shut ever since.

The freehold pub has had a long history. The first known innkeeper was Joyce Tobey in 1718. In 1900, the pub was acquired by Stroud Brewery, and in the late 1980s, a fire broke out causing extensive damage to the bar area.
