Forest Green chairman Dale Vince has revealed Rovers’ new manager will be unveiled on Tuesday with former Premier League midfielder and current Macclesfield boss Robbie Savage set to be handed the job.

Vince, who is currently at Glastonbury Festival, promoting his environmental agenda, told the BBC: “We’ve got a new manager being appointed and we have an event on Tuesday to unveil him.”

Current Macclesfield boss Savage was spotted in Stroud this week with Rovers’ director of football Mark Bowen. The pair were understood to have met Vince and vice-chairman Asif Rehmanwala at Ecotricity to thrash out a deal.

Rovers announced the departure of Steve Cotterill this afternoon, saying: “Steve Cotterill and FGR have parted company following the club’s decision to terminate Steve’s contract. We wish Steve all the best for the future,”

Vince added: “Steve Cotterill’s not with us now. We sacked him earlier this for reasons we won’t talk about.”

Rovers are set to return to pre-season training on Monday.
