Stroud Pride took place again on Saturday, held in Bank Gardens, attracting around 500 visitors for its seventh year.

“This year was the first time we did a Stroud Pride march, which was a rip-roaring success,” said Michael Jones, Secretary of Stroud Pride.

“We started in Bank Gardens, then went through The Shambles, down the High Street, along Kendrick Street to George Street and back to Bank Gardens.

“I was at the front and couldn’t see the back of the parade and somebody said there were 150 people there, which is really good.

“The main aim of Stroud Pride is basically a picnic to bring all the community together and it’s been wonderful to see. We’ve had the council helping put stuff up, we’ve had the police being in town and sending their support, and we’ve had wonderful volunteers that have given their time and it’s been a wonderful community event.”

The event was hosted by Feral Cole and Pandy LeRoux. Entertainment in the marquee in the park was provided by Queer Voices; Some Voices; Demeanor McCall; Misty Monique and Carrie Sauce.

Many businesses around town joined in with window displays and Pride decorations in the shops and cafes.
