As plans for The Long Street Summer Social, a community event held on Wotton-under-Edge’s Long Street develop the event is receiving praise from residents, businesses and civic leaders.

The event has launched a Stroud Funding page, Stroud District Council’s crowdfunding campaign in conjunction with Spacehive, a specialist crowdfunding platform that partners with councils to deliver exciting, impactful community projects. The Long Street Summer Social is asking for as much support as possible to get the project funded to ensure the event will be the best it can be in its first year. Anyone who can donate £2 will make a huge difference as Stroud Funding isn’t only about how much money the community donates, more about how many people want the event to come to life.

“I couldn’t be more delighted to support this wonderful initiative which not only brings everyone in the community together but helps us to bring new visitors to our wonderful town to showcase everything we have to offer,” said District and County Councillor Linda Cohen. “It’s the very best example of enterprise, asset building and community engagement.”

In addition to Cllr Cohen’s support, the event is receiving excitement from the town’s businesses, as well as many positive comments on social media. One Wotton resident commented on a post about Stroud Funding: “Wow this would be a lovely thing to do, and see on our high street! The Christmas one is a hit, I think this one will be too! Shared!”
