Dursley Town 3 Falcons 1
Newly appointed Dursley Town manager Ben Deakin couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season as his side came from behind to beat Falcons 3–1 in their opening Gloucestershire Northern Senior League fixture.
Despite falling behind early against the run of play after squandering several clear-cut chances, Dursley responded in style. Goals from Adam Price, Callum Dark, and Alfie Mann turned the game around before halftime, putting the visitors in firm control with a 3–1 lead.
The second half was stop-start, disrupted by injuries and substitutions, but Dursley managed the game professionally, showcasing the squad’s depth and discipline.
With Deakin himself making an appearance from the bench, it was a true team effort that set the tone for what promises to be an exciting campaign.
Deakin said: “A strong all-round performance from the squad today. Despite creating 3–5 clear chances early in the game, we found ourselves 1–0 down after failing to convert. It was a frustrating start, but the lads showed immense character and resilience.
“The response was exactly what we wanted — sharp, clinical, and full of intensity. Adam Price got us back level before Callum Dark put us ahead. Alfie Mann extended the lead before the break, giving us a well-deserved 3–1 advantage at halftime.
“The second half lacked rhythm due to a number of stoppages and injuries, but credit to the management team for navigating the disruption and using the full squad effectively — including myself getting some minutes!
“A big result and a solid display of squad depth and mentality.”
