Miller takes on 100km challenge for homelessness charity

Foxmoor schoolboy Miller Hombrado has set himself an extraordinary challenge this summer – completing 100 kilometres throughout August to raise money for the national homelessness charity, Crisis.

Not usually a long-distance runner, Miller,11, who runs for Stroud AC was inspired by his mum  Natalie, who will trek 100km across the Sahara Desert later this year to support the same cause. Determined to match her feat in his own way, Miller laced up his trainers and began his own journey.

Before August, the furthest he had run in years was just a single mile. But fresh from a family holiday in Morocco, he kicked off his challenge in style at Stroud parkrun, tackling the tough 5km course — a huge leap from his usual efforts.

Since then, Miller has been clocking up the kilometres almost daily, only pausing when football pre-season matches demanded a rest day. His commitment has already paid off, with over £500 raised so far for Crisis, and donations continuing to come in.

Miller is now firmly on track to complete the full 100km by the end of the month and plans to cross the finish line at Stonehouse parkrun on 30 August, ending his challenge on a high.
