Archway School is delighted to announce the appointment of James Woollin as its new headteacher.
He succeeds Kieron Smith, who is stepping down at the end of the summer term after many years of dedicated service.
Following a rigorous two-day recruitment process —led by the school’s governing body, with input from staff, students, and an experienced Local Authority Advisor—Mr Woollin was selected to lead Archway into its next chapter. This process reflected the school’s commitment to inclusive decision-making and excellence in leadership.
Mr Woollin joins Archway from Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, where he currently serves as Senior Deputy Headteacher. With a strong background in senior leadership and a proven track record of driving educational success, he brings a wealth of experience, vision, and commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Woollin said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as the new Headteacher of Archway School. I’m really looking forward to working with students, staff, parents, and the wider community to meet the challenges ahead and unlock the huge potential that exists within the school.”
The Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team extend their thanks to everyone in the school community who contributed to the recruitment process.
