Drivers are facing delays this morning (Monday) following a road traffic accident on Bristol Road in Stonehouse.

The single-vehicle incident is understood to have happened underneath the railway bridge next to Stonehouse Court.

Police have closed the road between the roundabout by Costa and the junction near Wycliffe School. Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes.

An eyewitness told Stroud Times: ” It looks like a single vehicle crash in or near the railway bridge. There was one ambulance there at the time I walked past at 6am and several police cars in attendance.”

UPDATE

The road reopened at 8am.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to Bristol Road in Stonehouse shortly before 6.10am with a report of a single vehicle collision.

“The driver of a van was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment after a suspected medical episode.

“Bristol Road was closed while emergency services were at the scene and reopened at around 8.10am.”
