The Door Shop in Stroud has been shortlisted for the UK’s Favourite Charity Shop Awards for the South West, with the winner now to be decided by public vote, closing Thursday, October 2.
Run by the Charity Retail Association, the Awards are in their second year and celebrate the vital role charity shops play in local communities. Beyond offering secondhand bargains, many charity shops serve as community hubs—employing local people, fostering friendships among volunteers, and supporting those connected to their causes.
This year, over 5,000 nominations were received, with the public sharing what makes their favourite shops special. Supporters of The Door Shop highlighted its welcoming environment and helpful staff, as well as the shop’s professionally arranged selection of menswear, children’s clothing, and toys.
Victoria Robson, CEO of The Door, said: “We are so excited to see the shop recognised in this way. It provides a key source of income for The Door, while also offering a safe space where our service users can learn new skills, grow in confidence, and give back to their community through volunteering.”
Robin Osterley OBE, Chief Executive of the Charity Retail Association, added:
“Congratulations to all the shops that made the shortlist, and thank you to everyone who made a nomination. The public vote will now decide which shops are crowned winners across 12 regions of the UK.”
