From April to August, the public were invited to share their favourite images and enter Cobalt Medical Charity’s annual Capture A Moment photography competition.
This year saw more than 500 photographs submitted, capturing everything from pets and people to landscapes and city scenes. The competition was judged by a panel including Cobalt’s Medical Director, Dr Umesh Udeshi, alongside professional photographers Sally Ryde and Martin Fry. For the first time, a public vote also determined a ‘People’s Choice’ winner from a shortlist of 65 standout entries.

“I was truly impressed by the standard of entries and the wide range of subject matter,” said Dr Udeshi. “As Medical Director and an amateur photographer myself, it’s heart-warming to see such creative support for our charity.”

David Levick, Cobalt’s Fundraising Manager, added: “We were incredibly lucky to have so many brilliant photographs submitted this year. From dogs in the rain to the northern lights – each image told its own unique story. That’s what this competition is all about: people from all walks of life capturing meaningful moments. Every entry helps raise money to support our Teenage and Young Adults Cancer Nurse in Gloucestershire, and we’re extremely grateful.”
The overall winner was Crossing the River by Stroud Camera Club member Mick West, a striking image that captivated the judges.

All twelve finalist photographs are on display in the gallery on Cobalt’s website and in-person at Linton House Reception until 28 November 2025. These images also feature in the new Cobalt 2026 Calendar, available for purchase online and at Linton House for just £4 (+ P&P). All proceeds go directly to funding Cobalt’s specialist cancer nurse for teenagers and young adults.
