Venison offers a tasty alternative amid food inflation

Food inflation continues to challenge households across the UK, but Country Quality Meat says there is one high-quality, affordable option: venison.

Once priced similarly to beef and lamb, venison has now become considerably cheaper, making it an increasingly popular alternative for families and food lovers.

“A lot of people use venison mince and diced venison as an alternative to beef, and the feedback is very positive,” said Paul Dowdeswell of Country Quality Meat in Nailsworth.

“I am also surprised how many customers are substituting venison loins for expensive beef steak dishes. Venison is proving that you don’t have to compromise on quality to get a great meal, even in the current climate of rising food prices.”

With the game season in full swing, pheasants and partridges are also being stocked, and buying multiple birds can offer particularly good value.

One of the most popular offers is 2lb of diced venison for £10, a price that has remained consistent for many years.

Country Quality Meat says this demonstrates that, even amidst rising food prices, venison is fighting back against inflation — providing a sustainable, widely available, and delicious alternative to more expensive meats.
