Forest Green Rovers midfielder Liam Sercombe has joined National League South title chasers Weston-super-Mare on a one-month loan deal.

The 35-year-old, who has not featured under Forest Green manager Robbie Savage this season, will link up with the Seagulls, managed by former Forest Green midfielder Scott Rogers.

Sercombe, signed by ex-Forest Green boss Steve Cotterill last season from Cheltenham Town, scored five goals in 39 appearances as Rovers reached the play-off semi-finals. Over his extensive career, he has played more than 700 games, representing clubs including Exeter City, Oxford United, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, and Forest Green Rovers.

On Sercombe’s departure, Savage commented: “Sercs has played over 700 games and had a wonderful career, there’s no doubt about that. And it’s a good opportunity for him to play games of football.”
