Stroud’s third Festival of Wonder kicked off on Friday with the opening cabaret ‘Whispers & Wings’ presented by School of Larks.
The centrepiece of the Festival was the specially commissioned circus show ‘The Briar and the Bramble’ featuring world-class circus artists Klodi & Yann, champion juggler Gordon Marquez (who returned by popular demand), and fabulous stage magician Marco Cardoso.

Organiser Phil Coysh told Stroud Times: “This past weekend’s 2025 Festival of Wonder at St Laurence Church was a huge success with thousands attending the circus spectaculars and other events.
“The specially commissioned circus show ‘The Briar and the Bramble’ was performed five times during the weekend and featured international aerial artists, jugglers, magicians and a folk band. Other events included music, dance, spoken word and a special appearance at the Saturday night Gala by Tweedy the Clown.

“The weekend began with the Schools of Larks showcasing young local talent and concluded with the Renewal Gospel Choir performing to an aerial interpretation by Aimee Rose Bennett.
“On Facebook, one attended wrote ‘We laughed, wondered, paused and took time to think. It was very special, thank you,’ whilst another posted, ‘Magic thrills and song with life’s treasure at its heart in this special place – beautifully done!’”
