A much-loved local name has officially joined the growing line-up at the Five Valleys Food Hall in Stroud.

Halls The Quality Bakers has opened its brand-new unit in the recently extended market area, trading as The Bap Shack and offering a wide selection of sandwiches and savoury favourites.

Founded in 1902, Halls is a true Stroud institution, with three generations of the Hall family still actively involved in the business. The Bap Shack opened on Friday December 5th, bringing more fresh local flavour to the bustling Five Valleys Food Hall.

The new outlet is led by Sales Manager Charlie Hall, representing the younger generation of the family. It showcases the company’s renowned range of savoury goods and sandwiches.

The menu features freshly brewed teas and coffees, alongside hot and cold sandwiches — including their famous bacon and sausage baps made with locally sourced meat. Customers can also enjoy a selection of freshly baked pasties, sausage rolls and pies.

Halls began in the Cotswold village of Minchinhampton, founded by Mr John Hall and his son Edward Hall to deliver fresh, quality bread to the surrounding area.

Today, the company operates popular shops in Swindon, Cirencester, Nailsworth, Tetbury and its well-established King Street store in Stroud, which continues to trade alongside the new Five Valleys unit. The Bap Shack is now the sixth store in the Halls family of bakeries.

Charlie Hall said: “We’re thrilled to have opened The Bap Shack at Five Valleys and to be part of such a vibrant local food community. Halls has always been about great quality, local produce and friendly service, and we’re excited to bring our savoury favourites to even more people in Stroud.”

The new Food Hall units are located next to the recently launched Home of Vintage, a brand-new concept vintage hall. The Bap Shack joins Vinnies Mac and Cheese and Simpsons Fish and Chips.

Centre Manager Mick Grundy added: “We’re delighted to welcome The Bap Shack to the Five Valleys Food Hall. Halls is a name synonymous with Stroud, known for their fantastic quality and long-standing family tradition. Having them join our expanding line-up with the Bap Shack is a real milestone.”

The Bap Shack joins a thriving food community at Five Valleys, featuring delicious street food from around the world alongside outstanding local produce.
