Stroud forced to withdraw from South West 1

Stroud RFC has announced that the club has been forced to withdraw the first team from the forthcoming season.

A statement from Stroud said: “It is with great sadness that Stroud Rugby has to announce the withdrawal of Stroud 1st XV from South West 1 (West) for season 2021/22.

“The club has been unable to find enough players to compete at this level. The club is still in discussions with the RFU about the next steps and will issue another statement once the discussions have been concluded.

“Senior rugby will continue at Stroud with the Nomads, who are now a part of the RFU league structure. Senior training continues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 pm – 8.30 pm.”
