Championship clubs Portsmouth and Norwich City are reportedly monitoring former Forest Green midfielder Charlie Savage ahead of a potential move.

Savage, 22, has impressed for Reading this season, who are said to value the midfielder at £1.5m.

He came through the Manchester United academy like father Robbie and made his one and only Red Devils’ appearance in 2021, during a Champions League fixture against Young Boys where he replaced Juan Mata.

During his time at Old Trafford, he spent a spell on loan at Forest Green Rovers, making 15 appearances and scoring his first senior professional goal in a 3–1 League One defeat to Bristol Rovers. The moment, back in 2023, sparked an emotional reaction from his father, Robbie Savage, who was live on BT Sport Score when the goal went in. Letting out a huge cheer, the former Derby and Blackburn midfielder exclaimed, “Yes! My boy has scored! Go on my boy!” as he punched the air in delight.

The two-time Welsh international penned a four-year deal at Reading in 2023 and has gone on to make over 100 league appearances for the club and has scored 14 goals in all competitions for the Royals.
