Brimscombe Port could finally come alive five years after community projects were evicted

MOST READ

Five years after community projects were pushed out, Stroud District Council is looking to breathe new life into the empty Brimscombe Port site with temporary uses.

In 2021, Rush Skatepark, The Long Table, Stroud Furniture Bank, Stroud District Kids’ Stuff, Inside Football, Stroud Foodbank and The Bike Drop were evicted from the port, and the site has remained vacant ever since.

The council hopes to bring activity and benefit back to the area, while continuing to seek a new development partner after the previous developer withdrew last year.

As part of budget for the next financial year, the council has set aside £10,000 to explore these temporary uses.
