Further to the success of her last virtual cycling challenge last year, Carrie Thould will be taking on another one next month.
This time, she will be cycling the equivalent distance from her home in Cam to St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff on April 11.
She has chosen this museum as her destination because her parents took her there several times as a child and it was good, especially because it’s very interactive and therefore more interesting for Carrie because it is a multi-sensory experience.
The total cycling distance is 57 miles, which she will cycle over 6 days, doing 9 miles a day at her home from Monday to Friday and then 12 miles on the final Saturday in the community hub at Springfields Court in Cam (GL11 6PG) where she also plans to hold a fundraising event.
Carrie explains what has prompted this year’s fundraiser: “I would like to give the proceeds from the event to Macmillan Cancer Support. This is because when my mum and brother were ill, Macmillan were a great help to them. I would like to support them partly as a thank you and partly to enable the charity to support more people in the future, although it is sad that this is necessary. I do hope that people will not only sponsor me through my Just Giving page but will also come along on the Saturday afternoon between 2 and 4pm and see me finish my challenge. They can have a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit and take part on the Tombola. I hope we can make a good sum of money for this worthy cause.”
