Letter to the Editor: Resurfaced street is a a sterile, featureless tarmac expanse

Dear Editor,

I write with a heavy heart regarding the recent resurfacing of King Street.

The new tarmac is an absolute eyesore, looking more like a generic road than a welcoming area for pedestrians. It now feels featureless.

Gloucestershire County Council Highways Department needs to reconsider this work and improve it immediately. Although I understand a top surface is set to be applied soon to complete the works, and I sincerely hope it restores some of the street’s character, but I won’t hold my breath.
