Step into history and celebrate one of Stroud’s best-kept secrets. You are warmly invited to a special exhibition dedicated to The Shambles Market—marking an incredible 400 years of trading heritage in the heart of the Five Valleys.

Inspired by Vintage Mary’s 50th Anniversary exhibition, this showcase brings to life the story of a market that has served its community for centuries and continues to evolve today. Still thriving every Friday and Saturday (8am–3pm), The Shambles Market remains a vibrant hub—indoors and out—nestled in the shadow of St Laurence Church, just off Stroud’s High Street.

This exhibition is a celebration of the people behind the market. Meet the passionate community of traders, discover traditions passed down through generations, and explore what makes this hidden gem so special for both locals and visitors alike.

The Yard Gallery, Withey’s Yard, Stroud 18th – 30th May 2026

Entry is free—so why not pop in, take a look around, and learn more about the past, present, and future of The Shambles Market? You may even meet some of the traders outside of their usual stalls.
