With community outrage reaching boiling point over the impending closure of one of Stroud’s most cherished amenities, Stroud Times put Stroud District Council under the spotlight.
Stratford Park Lido will remain closed this summer for the first time in 88 years. Council officials have pulled the plug, say the pool’s lining, as well as the pump, valves and pipework are now beyond repair and a staggering £5m is needed to be found towards its refurbishment.

In a compelling interview, Stroud Times journalist Faye Hatcher held Angela Gillingham, Head of Communities at Stroud District Council, to account, pressing for answers on how the situation came about and what the council plans next.
