Helping little learners thrive: Phonics classes expand across Gloucestershire

A local phonics teacher is celebrating the continued growth of her children’s classes, with new sessions set to launch in Stroud and Bishop’s Cleeve, as well as Cheltenham after Easter.

Aneesa Jethwa , who runs Phonics with Robot Reg classes across Gloucestershire, first began teaching six years ago. What started as a small class has since developed into a thriving local business, now supported by a team of teachers delivering fun, engaging phonics sessions for toddlers and pre-school children across the county.

Due to increasing demand from families, new classes will soon be introduced in Stroud and Bishops Cleeve, giving even more children the opportunity to take part in the interactive sessions.

The classes focus on introducing early phonics and literacy skills through songs, role-play, musical instruments and hands-on activities. At the heart of each session is the much-loved mascot, Robot Reg, who helps bring learning to life through play.

Aneesa said: “We are so excited to be bringing our classes to even more families. Over the past six years it has been incredibly special to watch the classes grow and see so many children develop confidence with phonics.

“Our aim has always been to ensure as many children as possible have the opportunity to attend our classes and develop early literacy skills, so they feel confident and ready for school.”

Phonics with Robot Reg classes are designed for toddlers and preschool-aged children, creating a fun and supportive environment where little ones can learn through play while parents and carers connect with other local families.

Think rest will fix your injury? Think again — Ed Voss explains why

If you’ve ever been told to “just rest it” when something starts to hurt, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common pieces of advice given for musculoskeletal injuries — and in the very early stages, it’s not entirely wrong. But here’s the problem: for most people, especially those over 50 who want to stay active, rest alone is rarely enough to get you properly better.
