Positive Stonehouse Town assistant manager Matt Tunley is hoping the Magpies can cap a brilliant season by landing the GFA Challenge Trophy final.
Adam Coyle’s side were left devastated on Friday after conceding a stoppage-time penalty to lose 1–0 to Malmesbury Victoria in the Hellenic League Division One West play-off final—a result that denied them promotion in front of more than 700 fans at the Ben’s Takeaway Stadium.

They now face Hellenic League Premier Division side Roman Glass St George on Tuesday 12th May, a tie that takes place at Roman Glass St George.
Tunley acknowledged the disappointment but stressed pride in the wider campaign and focus on the upcoming final: “It’s a heartbreaking way to end it—losing to a 90th-minute penalty in the play-off final. We weren’t at our best on the night, and that’s tough to take. But this doesn’t define us. It’s been a brilliant season: a 4th-place finish and a county cup final still to come on May 12th against Roman Glass St George.”
