Solstice was welcomed in at the spiral on Selsley Common, Stroud, on Saturday evening as the sun set, writes Simon Pizzey.
Created by artist Vittoria Immortelle from Minchinhampton, ‘Spira del Leone Aureo’ (Spiral of the Golden Lions) has become a focal point for spiritual celebration.
Friends, musicians and performers joined the artist to walk the spiral including the Sound Scape artists known as HOhME, Barry Mason, gong maker and player, Lina Lotto who played handpan and JuliLa, a cellist.
On Sunday morning people gathered on Selsley Common, to welcome the sunrise at 4.50am, with harp player Morwenna Louttit-Vermaat and her dad Bou Roodenburg on flute.
