Award-winning writer and performer Philip Douch is bringing an evening of laughter and storytelling to the atmospheric Chapels of Rest at Stroud’s Bisley Road Cemetery on Friday 17 July.
A two-time winner of the Gloucestershire Writers’ Network annual short story competition and a regular reader at Stroud Short Stories, Philip will perform a selection of his own highly entertaining stories for grown-ups from 7.30pm.
“I had a great time with a lovely audience at the Chapels last summer,” says Philip. “There’ll be plenty of laughter with another batch of stories this time.”
Previous audiences have described the show as “really, really fun” and “a huge high – I haven’t laughed so much for ages”, praising Philip’s warm, engaging performance style.
The evening also offers a rare opportunity to step inside the beautifully evolving restoration of the historic Chapels of Rest. Ticket income will be shared between Philip and the Stroud Preservation Trust, which is transforming the unique buildings into a small-scale community arts venue.
