Sharpness marked their long-awaited return to the Hellenic League with a statement victory as local sides experienced mixed fortunes on the opening day of the new season.
The Sharks made a dream return to the division after a 36-year absence, storming to a 5-1 win away at Carterton FC.
James Tainton bagged a brace, while Will Tainton, Bradley Gibbs and Kieran Bennett also found the net to complete an emphatic opening-day triumph and underline Sharpness’ intent for the campaign ahead.

Summer signing Alfie Bradshaw marked his debut following his move from Shortwood United with a goal, while Lee Keveren added a second as Adam Coyle and Karl Nash’s side collected all three points.
