Marling Sixth Formers are celebrating today after winning places at universities across the country. Many students matched or exceeded their offers, including those from highly selective institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, Kings College London and other Russell Group universities.
Particularly exciting is the wide range of courses and destinations students are moving on to, from Earth Sciences, English and Chemistry at Oxford, Classics at Cambridge, Medicine at Leeds, Veterinary Science at Lancashire and Nottingham, Dentistry at Birmingham and Physiotherapy at King’s. Other students have secured competitive Level 6 and Level 7 apprenticeships at companies including Babcock International, Hazlewoods and CGI.
Alfie Stick and Finn Nederlof both ended seven years at Marling with an impressive 4 A* grades. Alfie is going on to read Classics at the University of Cambridge, while Finn will be reading Chemistry at Oxford. Alfie said: “I couldn’t have done it without the support of my Latin and Classics teachers, and my Gran. I’m absolutely thrilled.” His success reflects the strength of Classics at Marling, where half of the students studying AS Level Classical Civilisation achieved the top grade of A. The department’s success was further recognised this year when Marling received a Highly Commended award in the Classics for All Impact Awards.
Further successes include Ella Brice who got 3 As and is heading to Leeds to study International Business having previously attended the Commonweal School in Swindon. She said: “I’ve made some great friends during my 2 years at Marling and want to thank my teachers for everything they’ve done to support me.”
Daniel Bevan, another student who’s been at Marling since year seven, is going to study Dentistry at Birmingham, having achieved A*A*A. Daniel said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Marling School and I’m looking forward to what the future brings!”
Other notable successes include Oscar Box, who has secured a prestigious apprenticeship with Babcock International. Bryony Severs, a former Thomas Keble School student, achieved 2 A*A*A and is looking forward to studying Biology at the University of Leeds. Phoebe Adshead, who also excelled with A*A*A, will go on to read Chemistry at the University of Warwick. Jack Peters, who achieved 3 A*s, is taking a gap year before applying to study Music at the University of Cambridge. Meanwhile, Eve Fletcher, a standout performer in Marling’s school productions over the past two years, achieved A*AC and is set to pursue her passion for the performing arts.

So many of them have worked so hard to get where they are today, some overcoming significant challenges that life has thrown at them.
