Forest Green Rovers have recalled in-form striker Jose Marquez from his loan spell at Worthing.
Marquez, who came through the youth ranks at Forest Green, has been in red-hot form for fellow National League side Worthing, scoring three goals in five starts, including the winner against Hartlepool on Saturday.
The 20-year-old has now been brought back from his season-long loan after Rovers activated a 28-day recall clause, allowing him to return immediately within that time frame.
Speaking exclusively to Stroud Times this evening, Rovers boss Robbie Savage said: “We’ve activated a 28 day loan recall clause. He’s scored goals at Worthing and will be back with the squad ahead of Sutton United.”
Marquez, who was raised just a stone’s throw from the Candriam Training Centre at Eco Park in nearby Frampton-on-Severn, will return to the Rovers fold to bolster a forward line that is currently without injured Ricardo Rees.
D’Mani Mellor and Kairo Mitchell are also away on international duty with Yemen and Grenada respectively.
Marquez will link up with Dutch striker Mees Rijks, who joined Forest Green from Bristol Rovers on loan and came off the bench in the 55th minute for Mellor during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Boston United.
