Year 13s at Berkeley Green UTC are celebrating today with many students securing places at their first choice university.

Berkeley Green UTC is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) specialist school offering traditional academic subjects alongside technical qualifications in engineering, digital technologies and cyber security.

Over half of the year group applied to study STEM subjects at university and were all successful in securing their first choice places. The other half of students are continuing into apprenticeships and employment, with many achieving degree-level apprenticeships at some of the leading companies not only in the South West of England but across the world.

Luke Cheskin calls family and friends to tell them the good news. He received six degree apprenticeship offers and thanks to his results, Luke will now undertake an apprenticeship at Renishaw.

Headteacher Gareth Lister said: “We are incredibly proud of our year 13 students. They have had a difficult educational experience over the past few years due to the covid restrictions in place, and for many students, the exams sat this year were their first opportunity to sit formal exams.

“Their resilience and positive attitude have been inspiring. Our students are leaving us not only with brilliant qualifications but also with the personal and professional skills they need to flourish in their future careers.

“If any young person would like to experience our technical curriculum in year 10 or year 12 then it is not too late to apply to us for entry this September. Our results show they will be in expert hands.”
