A creative family business known for its bespoke timber cabins is set to take up residence at the new Home of Vintage at Five Valleys, bringing live craftsmanship, workshops and hands-on creativity to the heart of Stroud.
Statham Custom Cabins Ltd, run by husband-and-wife team Rigel and Devan Statham, will be starting the new year by creating one of their signature bespoke cabins inside one of the larger units at Home of Vintage.
From January, shoppers and visitors will be able to watch the entire build process take place, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at traditional woodworking and joinery as the space quite literally takes shape in front of them.
The unit will act as both a working studio and a showcase for the couple’s craftsmanship, as well as a venue for woodworking and joinery workshops for both children and adults.
The pair also plan to use the space to engage with potential apprentices as the business continues to grow as well as a showcase and consultancy space for their clients.
Rigel Statham said: “We really want this to be a genuine community space. Being able to run workshops for children as well as adults, and to pass on practical woodworking and joinery skills, is really important to us.
We are also excited about using the space to engage with potential apprentices as the business grows. From January, people will be able to literally watch the unit taking shape, which we hope will spark curiosity and conversation.”
Launched earlier this year, Statham Custom Cabins Ltd designs and builds high-quality, bespoke timber cabins using sustainable materials, with every structure hand-built by skilled artisans.
Each project is designed from scratch and tailored to the client’s needs, with uses ranging from home offices and creative studios to yoga dens, guest accommodation and additional living space or bedrooms.
Devan Statham added: “Being part of Home of Vintage feels like a really natural fit for us. It is a creative environment that celebrates craftsmanship and individuality, which aligns perfectly with how we work and what we want to offer.”
Home of Vintage, which opened at Five Valleys early in December, brings together some of Gloucestershire’s finest vintage, retro and pre-loved traders under one roof and is set to become the largest vintage space in the region.
Designed as a vibrant, creative marketplace celebrating craftsmanship, individuality and community, it provides an ideal setting for experiential businesses like Statham Custom Cabins Ltd to connect directly with visitors.
Five Valleys is owned and managed by Sheffield based Dransfield Properties, the company has transformed the space into a thriving hub for local services, including a medical centre and library, as well as a popular food hall. The centre is also home to a great line up of national and independent retailers.
Operations Director Jodie Grundy said: “We are really pleased with the response we have had to the Home of Vintage concept and delighted to be working with even more creative companies such as Statham Custom Cabins Ltd. “
