Adam Lewis, from Rodborough, who is currently completing a Masters in photography at Falmouth University, has recently completed a documentary photography project showing life at Brimscombe Mill, home of the Long Table and other social enterprises.
Having long had an interest in both the environment and sustainability in general, he has used the course to explore ideas about how we can achieve a sustainable future by looking locally. The work on show in this exhibition is the result of a collaboration with Brimscombe Mill and the social enterprises it is home to.
“As we face the uncertain times going forward, I believe it is vital we have a strong sense of community and it is places like Brimscombe Mill that help to forge one. In the spirit of collaboration, the final selection of photos was chosen by all the people working at the Mill,” explained Adam.
The photos, printed by Steve Russell Studios in Chalford, were originally on display in The Sanctuary, but will be moving to the main part of the mill.
“It was wonderful having Adam join us last winter, it is always such a gift to have someone look with fresh eyes, seeing what you haven’t seen or things you had forgotten. I’ve enjoyed my contribution of listening to various members of our community and capturing in words a glimpse of their life here at the Mills,” said Ed Sauven of the Grace Network’s Leadership Team.
