Almost a week after escaping from his home in Avening, Alfie the parrot has been captured.

Alfie, a 10-year-old African grey parrot, flew away from his home in Rectory Lane in Avening last Wednesday and was spotted in various locations, including Gatcombe, but landed at Babdown Airfield near Tetbury on Tuesday, where the feathered traveller was successfully captured.

During his breakout the daring parrot had been heard whistling, imitating other birds, dog barking, laughing and saying his own name and shouting ‘hello’ on his whistle-stop tour of the Cotswolds.
